Anurag Kashyap Biography
Anurag Kashyap is a film maker who loves dark and real shades. He is a successful scrip writer as well. His movies are often featured in many international film festivals, earns many appreciation too. He is the script writer of Ram Gopal Varma’s Satya. He has also written script for many Ramu movies like Kaun and Shool. Other best scripts of Anurag Kashyap are Nayak, Watre, Gulaal, Last train to Mahakali, Kaun, Ayyaa, Udaan, That girl in yellow boots, Gangs of Wassepur and Shool. His best movies as a director include Dev D, Black Friday, Udaan, That girl in yellow boots, Last train to Mahakali (short film), Black Friday and Ghulaam. Most of these movies have won many Filmfare awards as well as star screen and IIFA awards. In true means, Anurag Kashyap is a director of modern times who always think something different and creative. Its best example is Dev D. when everyone loves to see Dev Das dying at the climax, he visualized its climax in a new angle by giving life to Dev and a new married life with the prostitute Chadramukhi. Only a few artists of present times can really think this way and make people appreciate and accept it. His first wife Aarthi Bajaj is a successful Bollywood editor. He divorced her in 2009 and got married to Dev D actress Kalki Koechin in 2011.
As a director, Last train to Mahakali is his debut. It was a short film that won special jury awards at screen awards. As a director, his first movie Paanch was unreleased. His first released movie ‘Black Friday’ which carried the delicate subject of 1993 Bomb blast series was surrounded with controversies. But the movie managed to won many awards including Indian Film festival at Los Angeles. He wrote script for the movie ‘Water’ that was nominated at Academic awards. Then he delivered finest movies one after another, placing himself one among the great film makers of present times.
His movies like Udaan, Gulaal and Dev D won many National awards. Despite being off-beat movies, these movies managed to accumulate a lot of Filmfare and Screen awards too, thus proving among the masses that he is really a genius.
When asked about his religious views, Kashyap replied: "I am an atheist.
