Arif Zakaria Biography

Arif Zakaria is a noted Bollywood actor, mostly known for portraying negative roles. He played the male antagonist of Piano teacher who tortures the female lead in 2011 horror thriller of Vikram Bhat, Haunted. The movie was a sleeper hit and his role was well-noticed.  His role as Emmi Begum in Darmiyan is also one of his most memorable roles till now. He played title role in this 1997 flick, which earned him a nomination at national film awards. Earth 1947, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose: The Forgotten Hero, Home Delivery: Aapko... Ghar Tak, Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Deewaar and My name is Khan are other popular roles of Arif. He currently appears in the television series - Kaali- Ek Agnipariksha.

He made his film debut through Kalpana Lajmi’s Darmiyaan in 1997. He played the title role aside Tabu, and Kiron Kher. He co-starred with National award winning actress Shobana, in ‘Dance Like A Man’. Ravi Shankar’s daughter, Anouskha made her film debut through this movie and she played the daughter of Shobana and Arif. Though he gets film offers for roles like a cop or an elder brother very often, he is so choosy with his roles. He was most recently seen in Jism 2 and Lootere, where he played the role of a cop. His upcoming releases include - 'Dee Saturday Night', 'Darr at the mall', ‘Blue Mountain’ and an untitled historical movie.

Zakaria was associated with stage plays since his college days. His role as a student leader in the tele-serial Chunauti (1989) earned him quick recognition. It was during his second year of graduation in Bombay's Sydenham College. His debut movie was originally meant for Shah Rukh khan. He replaced Shah Rukh Khan, to play the eunuch in this movie.
