Bagavathi Perumal Biography
Bagavathi Perumal is a noted character artist associated with Tamil cinema. He made his film debut with the cult classic comedy hit - Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom in 2012 where he played a matured role and shot to fame with his debut movie itself. Surprisingly the movie was based on a real life incident of the cinematographer of the film, C. Prem Kumar, who happened to be Perumal’s friend and later when the comic incident was made on big screen, Perumal reprised his real life to reel life and earned a loud applause for his outstanding performance as Bhagavathi aka Bugs. Balaji Tharaneetharan, who marked his debut with this movie as a director was also once among the four friends and a part of the real life incidences.
Bagavathi who made his film debut through the movie - Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom, portraying himself in a film inspired by real life events, he indeed set a rare record. With a bunch of new actors, the movie known for its hilarious comedy sequences and dialogues went on to become a sleeper hit and was extremely praised by critics. His mannerisms resembled legendary actor Om Puri onscreen. His second release was Oru Kanniyum Moonu Kalavaanikalum, released in 2014. He portrayed the character role of Ramanujam Esakki in the Tamil fantasy-comedy film directed by Chimbu Deven. But the movie failed to earn good reviews and was an average grosser at the box office.
Same year the National award winning movie – Jigarthanda was released where Bagavathi portrayed the role of a film cinematographer. Later he was seen in movies like Naalu Policeum Nalla Irundha Oorum, Indru Netru Naalai and Pichaikkaran. But none of the released movies could replicate the screen presence of Bagavathi’s debut film - Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom.
