Bala Pazhanisaamy Biography
Bala is an Indian film director, screenwriter and producer who concentrates in Tamil film industry. He is a talented director and has bagged many awards for his works. His realistic and dark films have set a new trend in Tamil film industry.
Bala was born on 11th July 1966 in Narayanathevanpatty village of Theni District in Tamil Nadu. His father’s name is Palanisamy and his mother’s name is Pachiammal. He belongs to a big family with five brothers and two sisters. His wife’s name is Muthumalar.
He completed his bachelor’s degree in Tamil literature from The American College at Madurai. He was not interested in his studies and did not want to go to college. Everyone was of the opinion that will never come up in life. But he wanted to prove himself at one point of time and this made him come to Chennai and enter into the film industry.
He joined Balu Mahendra as an assistant director and became his close friend and worked with him in five films. The film Sethu featuring Vikram in a different role as the lead character marked his directorial debut and gave him a big break.
His success in his first film was not easily achieved. Not many distributors were willing to screen the film as it had tragic ending and so it was released without any advertisements. However, it touched the hearts of the audience and the word of mouth advertisements took it to great heights. It ushered in a new wave in Tamil film industry.
Bala continued to give many super duper hits and won lots of awards and honors including the national award and filmfare award. Some of the films that he has directed include Sethu, Nandha, Pithamagan, Naan Kadavul and Avan Ivan, etc. He has also produced the films Maayavi and Paradesi. The film Pithamagan won him 6 Filmfare Awards. He has also shown his face as an actor in the film Sandhya Raagam in 1989 in a small role.
