Beena Banerjee Biography
Beena Banerjee is a noted Bengali actress of cinema and television, better known for portraying supporting and ‘mother’ roles. She is the daughter of Bollywood star of yesterdays, Pradeep Kumar who played lead role in Hindi classics like Taj Mahal, Meri Surat Teri Aankhen, Nagin, Chitralekha, Bahu Begum, Anarkali etc. Beena started her film career in the late 1970’s and is active in Bollywood and television till now. Banerjee is known for her work on Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988), Anjaam (1994) and Chandni (1989). She was earlier married to Bollywood director Ajoy Biswas, but got separated. She appears in Bengali movies too. As a television actress, she is best known for her role in Uttaran aired on Colors TV where she portrayed the role of Gunwanti Singh Bundela, Ummed Singh’s wife and Veer’s mother.
Beena Banerjee also known as Beena or Bina. She has three siblings – two sisters and one brother. She was married to film director Ajoy Biswas. Their son Siddharth Banerjee works as assistant director in Bollywood. This actress is known for her pure theatrical expressions on her face and eyes which makes her distinctive. She mostly appears on screen delivering less dialogues and known for her acting skills through lovely expressions. She has appeared in 130 plus movies since 1977. She has appeared portraying wife, best friend or mother’s role in numerous Bollywood hits throughout 1980’s, 1990’s and afterwards.
Though she is known for portraying sister, mother or friend’s role in most of her movies, she has also done a few lead roles in the beginning stage of her career. She has done both glamorous and traditional roles. She is known for the sedative role in ‘Khooni Raat’.
