Bhagyalakshmi Biography
Bhagyalakshmi is a very famous dubbing artist of south India. She is the top female dubbing artist of Malayalam, most popular with Manichitrathaazhu (1993), where she dubbed for its female Shobana. The Tamil dialogues of this movie delivered by Shobana onscreen played a significant role in the success of this movie, and Shobana bagged a National award as well as state award for best actress for the same. She was the first Artist who won Kerala State Film Award for Best Dubbing Artist for Female Category and she won it in the year 1991. She is the artist to win in this category maximum times as well. Till now, she has given to more than 2000 films in Malayalam and maximum movies for actress Shobana. She occasionally appears onscreen. Her most recent onscreen appearance is for the movie, Celluloid.
Bhagyalakshmi was born in Kozhikode on 1 November 1962. She started her career as a dubbing artist at the age of 10. It was during late 1970’s when her work got noticed. It was the movie Kolilakkam where she dubbed for actress Sumalatha. During early 1990’s she became one of the top rated female dubbing artist of the industry. She won Kerala state award for dubbing artist, when it was announced for the first time in 1991. She won the award for the movies, Ulladakkam and Ente Sooryaputhrikku. Surprisingly, she dubbed for actress Amala for both these movies. These movies still remain the best Malayalam movies of this actress!
In 1995, she won Kerala state awards for Ormayundayirikkanam and Kusruthikattu. In 1997, she won the same award for Chinthavishthaya shyamala. In 2002, she gave voice to actress Soundarya for the movie, Yathrakarude Sradhakku, the last Malayalam movie of this actress. She won Kerala Film Critic Award also for the same movie. Last time, she won the awards in the year 2012 for Asianet television serial, Kungumapuvu.
