Cheran Biography
Cheran is an Indian film director who has given many blockbusters in Tamil language. He has won many national and state level film awards. Not only that he is one of the best film directors of Tamil Nadu but also he has shown his face some films. His casual acting and realism giving strong social messages in his films had taken him to great heights.
Cheran was born on 12th December 1970 at Pazhaiyurpatty near Melur in Madurai District of Tamil Nadu. His father’s name is Pandian and his mother’s name is Kamala. His father was a projector operator in touring cinema theatre and Cheran used to accompany him to the theatre in his younger days which nourished his dreams of entering the film industry. His mother was a teacher in a primary school and he also has two sisters.
He had strong love for cinema industry. He used to enact in the dramas of his school days. He used to stand before the mirror and speak out the film dialogues of Shivaji Ganesan in his younger days. At one point of his life, he came to Chennai to pursue his career in film industry.
He joined K.S. Ravi Kumar as an assistant director. Producer Henry gave him a chance to direct and this marked his directorial in the film Bharathi Kannamma. This was a big hit through it bagged many controversies and Cheran became an overnight star.
His next few films like Porkaalam, Pandavar Bhoomi and Vetri Kodi Kattu were also mega successes adding to his name and fame. He always likes to include some strong social messages in the story line. He appeared as an actor in the film Solla Marantha Kathai by director Thangarbachan.
It was after screening the film Autograph that he went to great heights. It was a very successful movie in the Tamil film history and had a difference in its story line. It was screened four times at the Montreal Film Festival at Canada.
He got an interest in the film industry because of Sivaji Ganeshan. He says that his wife is the most honest critic of his films and her favorite film was Pokkisham. He is against selling pirated VCDs of the films and has conducted raids to stop them.
