Chikkanna Biography

Chikkanna is a popular character artist of Kannada cinema known for portraying comic roles. He made his film debut with 2013 film – Kirataka and gained popularity through his outstanding performances in Raja Huli (2013) and Adyaksha (2014). Both the roles earned him SIIMA Award for Best Comedian also. In 2015, he started his career as a lyricist with the move – Sharpshooter, where he penned the lyrics of the song "Kuntebille". After experimenting with a variety of roles, he wants to portray villain on screen. As a film actor Maduveya Mamatheya Kareyole, Masterpiece, Sharpshooter, Ram Leela and Bangalore 560023 are his latest appearances.

 

He belongs to Mysore, Karnataka. He doesn’t had a great background to begin with. He started his career as a comedy actor of stage shows. He was associated with Mysore based, Drishya Kalavide during his early days. The group performed during festivals and Karnataka Rajyotsava. Once he performed in a show for Udaya TV, where he was spotted by actor Yash, who offered him a role in his upcoming movie – Kirataka. Yash was impressed by his skit he played with his friend Pratap, as a part of 75 years celebrations of Amrutha Mahotsava.  He appeared in one movie – Lucky the following year.

 

However 2013 release Raja Huli brought him to limelight and since then offers started pouring in. He played the role of Chikka in Raja Huli and the following year, he played Narayana in Adyaksha and both these movies bagged him SIIMA awards consecutively for two years. With 25 films to his credit, now he is an asset to Kannada film industry, who boosts the success of films. His witty one-liners and wisecracks made him a popular entertainer. He is not attracted to any comedian’s mannerisms or style and wants to keep himself unique.
