• During his schooldays, Leon had more interest in science and mathematics. Subsequently he pursued B.E. Computer Science in PSG College of Technology from the year 1988 to 1992. Then he completed M.S. Computer Science in Arizona State University in the year 1996.  He had more specialisation in Computer graphics field.

   He won Oscar award for his contribution to Cinema. Cottalango Leon, a person of Indian origin, was on 22 January 2016 selected for the 2016 Technical Achievement Award of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.  Academy of Motion Pictures honoured him under the 'Science and Technical Achievements' category for developing Sony Pictures' Imageworks Itview.
