Dhwani Gautam Biography

Dhwani Gautam is a promising young film film maker associated with Gujarati cinema. The founder of Dhwani Gautam films, he produces and directs films. His recent release is Romance Complicated, released on January 2016. The movie marked the acting debut of its lead actors, Malhar Pandya and Divya Misra. He worked on Hindi, Marathi and Punjabi films as associate director for more than a decade before his entry to Gujarati films. Rom Com marked his directorial debut.

After the phenomenal success of urban Gujarati films in the past three or four years, many new directors are coming forward with fresh ideas and new style of film making in Gujarati cinema. Romance Complicated marks Dhwani’s debut as a full-fledged Gujarati film director. The movie belongs to the genre rom-com, a genre which has never been experimented in the Gujarati cinema. One of the expensive films of Gujarati film scene, a part of the movie was even shot at USA.

He studied film making from a very prestigious Asian School of Media Studies and later assisted many top notch film directors of Bollywood for over a decade. He worked as Assistant Director for Hats off Productions, Sagar Arts and For Prime Time Entertainment. Also associated with Punjabi films, he has done a cameo role in the Hindi film, “The Last Don". At a point of time, he felt the need to revive Gujarati cinema and that’s how he left Bollywood to join Gollywood. He started DG Films in 2007, which currently functions as a full-fledged production house. He also worked for the television series, “Jeevti Vaarta" based on True Stories, before his debut flick - Romance Complicated.
