Govind Padmasoorya Biography
Govind Padmasoorya is a successful TV anchor and actor associated with Malayalam cinema and television. He debut Malayalam film industry as a teenager through highly acclaimed and award winning movie – Atayalangal in 2008. Later he played supporting role in Malayalam movies like Lavender, College Days, Varsham, IG, Bhoomi Malayalam, Daddy Cool, Natholi Oru Cheriya Meenalla, 72 Model etc. As a TV anchor, he co-hosted the dance reality show titled "GumOn D2" in Mazhavil Manorama, aside both Pearle Maaney and Jewel Mary. He became immensely popular with this show. T. V. Chandran's Bhoomi Malayalam is his most noted role up-to-date. He is better known by the stage name GP among his fans.
Padmasoorya was born on 16 June 1987 in Pattambi, Palakkad. His father Govindan worked as manager in Catholic Syrian Bank, while his mother Malathy, a telecom employee. He completed MBA at Whistling Woods International, Mumbai. At the age of just 20, he made a sensational entry to Mollywood playing male protagonist in M G Sasi's Adayalangal. He was doing his final year graduation and had the experience of just one music video when he received this role. Based on the life of well-known writer Nandanar, Govind fully lived the character. He did some disciplined research about Nandanar before doing this challenging role. The movie received handful of awards including NETPAC Award at the 13th International Film Festival of Kerala and Kerala State Film Awards for the Best Film, Best Director and Best Cinematography and a National award too.
Later he was seen doing noted supporting roles in Mollywood. It was the TV show "GumOn D2" in Mazhavil Manorama which increased his popularity among audience. He was interested in light-hearted Malayalam movies since his childhood. He is interested in learning film dialogues and reciting before friends and relatives since then.
