Gowtham Sundararajan Biography
Gowtham Sundararajan is an actor and choreographer associated with Tamil cinema and television. He has acted in a few movies besides establishing himself as a successful choreographer. He entered film scene in the early 1990s and has spent 25 years in the industry. He was first seen in the role of a theater artist for the 1991 movie – Azhagan. He was seen as a Dancer in "Kozhi Koovum" song. Seen in Arjun’s Jaihind in 1994, he appeared in its sequel also, one of his latest appearances. He also plans to become a producer. He is the son of Major Sundararajan, who was active in film industry in the 1960s as an actor.
Also known by the name Major Gowtham, Gowtham Sundararajan was born to Tamil actor Major Sundarrajan and Shyamala in Chennai. He graduated from Vivekananda College, Chennai in 1989. Stepping into his father’s shoes, Gowtham too decided to try his luck in film industry. He started off as a dancer for song sequences for a few movies in the early 1990s. He appeared in Azhagan as a theater artist for the song, "Kozhi Koovum" and appeared as a folk singer for "Enge Kula Saamy" song of 1994 film – Thai Maaman. He regularly associated with Sundar C. and Arjun Sarja for several movies.
He got married to Kokila Hariram in 1996 and two years later the couple founded the Academy of Modern Dance, Chennai's first formal Western dance school. Since then Gowtham gave more preference to his dancing career and choreographed several songs alongside his wife. Aalavandhan (2001) was one of their earliest works. Mani Ratnam's Iruvar (1997) was his first noticed role as an actor, where he starred as one of Tamizhselvan's aides.
