Himanshu Sharma Biography
Himanshu Sharma is a successful screenwriter associated with Bollywood films. He is best known for writing the powerful scripts of Tanu Weds Manu (2011), Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015) & Raanjhanaa (2013) which received positive response from critics, and emerged as huge box office hits. In 2015 he won two National awards for the movie, Tanu Weds Manu Returns which earned many other awards in National awards 2015. He received awards for Best Screenplay and Best Dialogues. He shared both these awards with Juhi Chaturvedi for the film – Piku. Himanshu is engaged to actress Swara Bhaskar. Currently he is scripting Anand L. Rai and Shah Rukh Khan's next.
Himanshu Sharma was born on 20 August 1980 in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. His father worked in tourist department. His childhood days were spent in Lucknow where he completed his school education and he moved to Delhi to do his higher education. While doing graduation at Kirori Mal College, he got involved with theater. He wanted to become an IAS officer during his college days. He started his career with NDTV as script writer for a health show. But later he moved to Mumbai to pursue a career in films.
He started off with writing scripts for television shows such as Kkusum and Bhootwala, before his debut in Bollywood. His first offer to films was given by Raj Kundra. Thus Strangers starring Nandana Sen and Jimmy Shergil marked his film debut. But he got noticed for Tanu Weds Manu (2011), followed by Raanjhanaa (2013) and the most recent Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015). These three movies gave him numerous awards and nominations at various film award functions for best story, screenplay and dialogues. He received Star Screen Awards and Zee Awards for best dialogues for Tanu Weds Manu and its sequel. Raanjhanaa earned him best story, screenplay and dialogues awards at Zee Cine Awards and many more.
