Jaideep Chopra Biography

Jaideep Chopra is a film producer, director and screenwriter. His directorial debut – Maazii (an independent film) released in 2013 under his home production Jaideep chopra productions was a major critical success. The movie won many awards including Best independent movie of 2013 by IBN7 LIVE, Award of excellence at indie cine film festival Los Angeles 2014, Honorable mention at SUNSET film festival 2014 Los Angeles and many more. The movie that also received nomination at Dada Saheb Phalke film festival 2014 also marked the first lead role of actor Sumit Nijhawan of ‘Jannat – 2’ fame. Sumit also co-wrote the script aside Jaideep. Currently he is working on the film titled - 2016 The End, and the movie is planned to get released this year.

Jaideep Chopra was born 28 December 1971. He was born into a family of non-filmy background. He made his debut as a director, producer and screenwriter through the dark thriller, Maazii starring Sumit Nijhawan and Mona Vasu. Pankaj Tripathi, Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub, Zakir Hussain and Ashok Banthia, actors from NSD alumni also played pivot roles in the films. The movie was made on a moderate budget and the director feels that big budget does not make a film a hit. A film cannot be judged by its budget- says the critically acclaimed director.

Chopra is currently working on 2016 The End. The film is a slapstick comedy starring Divyendu Sharma, Harshad Chopda, Kiku Sharda and Priya Banerjee. He is deeply influenced by the works of Rajkumar Hirani - such as '3 Idiots', 'Munna Bhai' and 'PK', and wants to do movies in his line.
