Jayant Sinha Biography
Jayant Sinha is an Indian politician and currently a parliamentarian belonging to BJP. He got elected from Hazaribagh constituency from Jharkhand in the 2014 general elections. He is also a successful businessman, investment fund manager and investment and business strategist who has an experience in this field over 25 years. He is the son of prominent Indian politician Yashwant Sinha, former External Affairs Minister and Finance Minister of India. Jayant played a prominent role in in framing national economic policy during election campaigns of Modi in 2014.
He was born on April 21, 1963 in Giridih of present day Jharkhand. He is the son of Nilima Sinha and prominent political figure Yashwant Sinha. He took M.B.A. with Distinction from the Harvard Business School apart from other business degrees. He took Master of Science in Energy Management & Policy in 1986 before enrolling MBA course. He is a former brilliant student of IIT who represented his school in many quiz competitions. His wife Punita Kumar is an investment manager and former Senior Managing Director at ‘The Blackstone Group’. They got married in 1986. Sinha was associated with McKinsey & Company as a partner in the Boston and Delhi offices for 12 years.
Sinha has been associated with politics for more than 15 years. He has also played his part in policy making, particularly when his father served as a financial minister under Vajpayee’s government. He also prepared McKinsey-Nasscom industry reports in 2000 and 2005, as a group member. Since 1998, he participated in election campaigns for his father. Sinha worked with Narendra Modi in framing national economic policy in 2014.
