Jeeva Ravi Biography
Jeeva Ravi is a film actor and casting director associated with Tamil film industry. Ravi is the grandson of film producer of yesterdays, G. M. Velumani. As a character artist he is best known for his performance in the films - 3 (2012) and Jeeva (2014), where he portrayed the roles of Shruti Haasan’s father and Sri Divya’s father respectively. Thus he appeared as female protagonist’s father in both these movies which got noticed. After the release of the film Jeeva, the film’s name became his tag name forever. Ravi is also a successful casting director of the industry. Kaththi (2014), Kaaki Sattai (2015) and Miruthan (2016) are his recent works where he essayed powerful character roles.
Ravi was born into a family which had links with film industry. His grandfather G. M. Velumani was one of the early film producers of Tamil talkies, who produced several movies in the 1950s and 1960s. Ravi began his career as a casting director, and marked his acting debut through Tamil television serials. He got his first break to big screen in the year 2012. The break was given by Aishwarya Dhanush for her next release, 3. Ravi essayed lead heroine Shruti Hassan’s father in the film. The film is known for the chartbuster hit, Why dis Kolaveri di? Since then he got a few noted character roles for Tamil cinema.
He played the role of a cricket coach in Suseenthiran's Jeeva (2014) which earned him critics’ appreciation. The film was a major success and he adapted 'Jeeva' as a prefix to his name. Azhagu Kutti Chellam, Moondraam Ullaga Por and Miruthan are his recent releases of 2016 and Oru Pakka Kathai is his upcoming release. He has been a part of popular television shows - Kana Kaanum Kaalangal and Thendral.
