Junior Balaiah Biography
Junior Balaiah is an Indian stage and film actor associated with Tamil film industry. He is the son of T. S. Balaiah, an actor & thespian of Tamil cinema in the 1960s and 1970s who excelled in all kinds of roles. Actress Manochithra known for character roles is his sister. In fact, all the artist members of his family excelled in portraying character and supporting roles. In a career spanning to four decades, Junior Balaiah has essayed numerous memorable character roles on Tamil screen. His real name is Raghu Balaiah.
Raghu Balaiah was born in Chennai into a family of strong artistic background. His father T. S. Balaiah is a legendary actor associated with Tamil films. His sister Manochithra also worked in films. He was the third son of actor T. S. Balaiah. Sundankottai of present day Thoothukudi district is his hometown. Though born into a Hindu family, he later converted to Evangelism following Christianity.
His father died just three days after the release of his debut flick. In fact a movie, Suttaan Sutten was in pipeline where father-son duo was to appear together. But with the unexpected death of his father, the project was shelved. Later Junior Balaiah acted in many Tamil movies. Yet he could never replicate the success or screen presence of his father to Tamil cinema.
His failed career in films made him a bankrupt and later he embraced Christianity for personal reasons. He also up a healing centre called Healing Stripes Ministry. Since 2010, he rarely appears in Tamil films. He turned a seasonal actor. His portrayal of a headmaster in Saattai (2012) is one of his best performances in the recent times. He was also seen in Thani Oruvan and Puli. He now plans to launch his son in the film industry.
