Kalpana Pandit Biography
Kalpana Pandit is a film actress, model and emergency physician. She holds both MBBS and MD degrees. She also hosts events and award functions and also acts as jury for beauty pageants in India. She has also appeared as an item dancer in a few Bollywood and Telugu movies. She played the role of Supermodel "Chidiya Chidiya" in 2007 movie, Padmashree Laloo Prasad Yadav in which the politician Laloo Prasad Yadav made a brief guest appearance. 'Meri Jawani' of 2002 movie Pitaah is one of her popular item songs. She played lead role in the Kannada short film, Jo Jo Laali (2010) which earned her best actress award at South Indian Mega Short Film Festival 2011 held at Bangalore.
Kalpana Pandit is the granddaughter of Ayurvedic physician B. V. Pandit. Kalpana holds both MBBS and MD degrees. She took MD in internal medicine, from USA and worked as an emergency physician in US for a short period before her return to India. She started her modelling career in the late 1990’s and appeared in the popular ads of Wheel detergent powder, Mysore sandal talc, Nyle etc. She made her acting debut in 2000 with the movie, Gaja Gamini which starred Madhuri Dixit in lead role. She played the supporting role of Abhisarika in this movie.
Though she appeared in a few more Bollywood movies, she couldn’t achieve success. Pran Jaye Par Shaan Na Jaye, Pyaar Kiya Nahin Jaatha, Deha, Padmashree Laloo Prasad Yadav and Anubhav are her Bollywood appearances though none could save her sinking career. She also did item songs for a few movies. In 2011, she appeared in the comedy movie, Love Khichdi. In 2012, she made her Tamil debut through Panithuli. In this movie, she played lead role opposite noted actor, Ganesh Venkatraman. Panithuli was one of her movies in which she got a full-fledged role. The movie received negative response and was a box office failure. In 2012, she turned producer with ‘Janleva 555’.
