Kambhampati Hari Babu Biography

Kambhampati Hari Babu is an Indian politician from Andhra Pradesh, belonging to Bharatiya Janata Party. He currently serves as an MP representing Visakhapatnam constituency. He is the state unit President of Bharatiya Janata Party for Andhra Pradesh. During his college days, as a student leader, he participated in Jai Andhra movement in support for the creation of Andhra state. He actively participated in Lok Sangharsh Samithi Agitation in the mid-1970s for which he was arrested and jailed. He served as the General Secretary for BJP in Andhra Pradesh during 1993-2003.

Kambhampati Hari Babu, shortly called Hari Babu hails from Thimmasamudram, Andhra State. He doesn’t belong to any political background. He was born on 15 June 1953, and currently he is settled in Visakhapatnam. His wife’s name is Kambhampati Jayasree. He moved to Visakhapatnam from his hometown to pursue B. Tech in Electronics and communication engineering in Andhra University in the early 1970s. He was a brilliant student in academics, and he also completed his Master’s degree apart from PhD. He started his professional career as a lecturer at Andhra University, and later took voluntary retirement from service as Associate Professor in 1993 to completely dedicate his life for social service and politics.

Since college days, in the early 1970s he has been active in students’ politics. He participated in Jai Andhra movement, and also Lok Sangharsh Samithi Agitation under Jaya Prakash Narayan. He was imprisoned for 6 months in Visakhapatnam Central Jail and Mushirabad Jail during this time. He reached the position of State Executive Member of Janata Party of Andhra Pradesh in 1977, and after that he became more active with politics. Hari Babu served as member of Andhra Pradesh State Executive Committee of BJP in the early 1970s.
