Kanchana Moitra Biography

Kanchana Moitra is a film actress associated with Bengali cinema. She started her film journey in 2008 and has completed 1 decade in the industry. As of now she has appeared in around a dozen of Bengali films and is fully active in television industry right now. Jarowar Jhumko, Bhojo Gobindo and Hriday Haran B.A. Pass are the current shows of Moitra which are being telecasted. She plays supporting roles in all these television shows. In Bengali movies too, she is best known for supporting roles. She is fully concentrating into Bengali cinema and television.

Kanchana Moitra hails from West Bengal. She started her acting career in 2008 through Bengali film Sedin Dujone directed by Atanu Bose. She played the parallel lead role of Sanchita in the movie. It’s actually a remake of Malayalam blockbuster Thalavattom of late 1980s, and Kanchana reprised the role of Lissy, lead actor’s first love in the movie. Kyon Ki – was the movie’s Hindi version and it drew inspirations from Bengali classic, Deep Jele Jai also. The movie was not a big success.

Kanchana was later seen in Pakhi, Bye Bye Bangkok etc, and her role in Bye Bye Bangkok got noticed. After that she started receiving good supporting roles in Bengali cinema, and she accepted television roles too. 8:08 Er Bongaon Local, Kayekti Meyer Golpo, Accident, 10 July, Bristi Bheja Roddur, Shajarur Kanta and Kiriti Roy are the movies in which she appeared later. She started her television career in 2013 with the show, Sokhi aired on Star Jalsha. Since then she is mostly concentrating on to her television career and has appeared in the shows - Tumi Robe Nirobe, Byomkesh, Premer Phaande, Bene Bou etc.
