Kodi Ramakrishna Biography
Kodi Ramakrishna is a successful Telugu film director and writer, known for Arundhati (2009), Anji (2004) and Devi (1999). Known for making several award winning movies, in 1990 he received Filmfare Award for Best Director in Telugu for the film – Sathruvu. He is associated with Telugu cinema since early 1980s and is active till now. Baba Sathya Sai – is his upcoming flick, biographical film based on the life of Indian spiritual leader Sathya Sai Baba, where Malayalam film actor Dileep is to portray Sai baba’s role. It’s perhaps the first feature film made on this spiritual leader.
Known for handling both fantasy and melodrama this veteran director has directed more than 100 films including some blockbuster hits to Telugu cinema. In a career spanning to more than 35 years some of his commercially successful movies include - Intlo Ramayya Veedilo Krishnayy, Mangamma Gari Manavadu, Talambralu, Aahuti, Ankusam, Satruvu, Ammoru, Pelli, Devi (1999), Devullu, Anji and Arundhati. He tasted success since his early phase of 1980s. Apart from Telugu films, he has also directed a few Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi films. He has been successful for directing movies based on rural life, women oriented, and social stories, political as well as drama and fantasy themes.
Kodi Ramakrishna hails from Palakollu of West Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh. This director is known for experimenting with wide range of genres of film making. His debut film - Ramayya Veedhilo Krishnayya starring Chiranjeevi was a major hit and ran for 525 days. Before his directorial debut he worked only with Dasari Narayana Rao, who also belongs to his hometown. He also worked with producer of Pratap Arts who gave him the first big break to movies. Later he developed a rapport with S Gopal Reddy (Bhargav Arts), Shyam Reddy (MS Arts) and MS Raju (Sumanth Arts) and made many memorable and commercially successful movies.
