Livingston Biography

Livingston, also known as Ranjan is a Tamil film actor known for character roles. He has also written scripts for a few Tamil movies. His screen name was credited as Ranjan in his early movies. He has been active in the film industry since early 1980s, starting off with bit roles and negative roles. He has also done a few memorable comic roles onscreen and played lead roles in movies like Sundara Purushan (1997), Sollamale (1998), En Purushan Kozhanda Maadiri (2001) and Engalukkum Kaalam Varum (2001). Kanni Rasi and Kaaki Sattai are his noted screenplays which he wrote aside with G. M Kumar, a noted character artist who appeared in these movies. Sundara Purushan and Aruvadai Naal are other screenplays. With the movie, 'Thandachoru' he turned a film and music director. This movie introduces a set of fresh actors. But the release of movie is delayed.

Livingston was initially a singer doing star shows, who dreamt of becoming an actor as well. He has been a great MGR fan since childhood. Before entering movies as an actor, he has performed in many shows. Later he got opportunity to do playback singing for ‘Athey Manithan’ and ‘Moonram Powrnami’. With the movie, Thamdachoru he turns a music and film director, a dream he has been cherishing for a long time. The movie is set to release in 2015. With the success of 'Sundara Purushan', 'Sollamale' and 'Poomagal Oorvalam', he became a successful hero and he is showing his hidden talents one by one with patience, staying in the industry.

He came into films as an apprentice director and later did B-grade movies in supporting and negative roles before moving to main stream. He was attracted to K. Bhagyaraj's films and hence loitered around his home for about an year to get a film role. Bharathiraja's 'En Oyir Thozhan' and K. Balachander's 'OruVeeduIruVaasal' proved to be the big breaks of his acting career.
