M. K. Muthu Biography 
M. K. Muthu is the eldest son of DMK supremo M. Karunanidhi. He starred in a few Tamil films and sang a few songs in films. He was launched to film industry by none other than his father himself to match MGR’s popularity. But Muthu failed terribly as an actor. Though born into one of the most prominent families of Tamil Nadu, Muthu is now spending his days in extreme financial troubles and lung-related medical issues. He was admitted as a patient in a Govt. Hospital in October 2015, and currently stays with his wife at one friend’s home at Adayar. Karunanidhi family and DMK continues to neglect eldest son, despite knowing his worst condition.
He was born in 1948 in Tamil Nadu’s prominent political family. He is the first son of former Chief Minister Muthuvel Karunanidhi. He has 5 siblings and most of them have ventured into politics following father’s footsteps. M. K. Alagiri, M. K. Stalin and M. K. Kanimozhi are among his younger siblings. Muthu was born to Karunanidhi’s first wife, Padmavathy - a sister of Chidambaram S. Jeyaraman, notable Tamil musician and playback singer. But Padmavathy died young and Karunanidhi later married twice. Muthu is the single child to Karunanidhi-Padmavathy couple.
Karunanidhi himself introduced Muthu to film scene in the early 1970s through the films, Pillayo Pillai, Samayalkaran, Anayavilaku, 'Ingeyum Manidhargal' and Pookari, where he played the lead role. He also rendered his voice for a few film songs. However he couldn’t succeed as a hero. His failure in cinema made him a drug and liquor addict, and he suffered a lot from ailments too. It’s rumoured that he once approached for and got financial assistance from Jayalalithaa, which didn’t go well with his family members. For the reason his family members dishonoured him. In 2008, he sang a folk song for the film Mattuthavani composed by Deva. He sang a song after a long gap of 20 years.
