Manav Vij Biography

Manav Vij is a noted film and television actor, best known for playing supporting roles. He started his career with Shaheed-E-Azam as Sukhdev in 2002, and gained attention through the very popular TV soap on Star Plus, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Later he got opportunity to play brief roles in more than a dozen of Hindi films. Some of his memorable roles include - Indu Sarkar, Lucknow Central, Naam Shabana, Phillauri, Dil Vil Pyaar Vyaar, Udta Punjab and Rangoon. His role as Anushka Sharma’s dotting elder brother in Phillauri (2017) is really memorable. He was regularly associated with Punjabi movies for a long time before he became active in Bollywood.

 

Manav Vij was born on 2 January 1977 in Firozpur, Punjab. He is married to noted television actress Meher Vij, who is also known by the name Vaishali Sahdev (her maiden name). Manav is associated with entertainment industry since 2002 and has been regular playing a few noted supporting roles. He was first seen on big screen in the year 2002, in the movie, Shaheed-E-Azam aside Bobby Deol for the biopic Shaheed-E-Azam. He portrayed the pivot role of freedom fighter Sukhdev in the film. The same year half a dozen of biopics of Shahid Bhagat Singh were released in Bollywood, of which Bobby Deol version earned enough attention though was a box office failure.

 

He married his television co-star Meher Vij in 2005. He appeared in the television soaps - Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil and Mitwa Phool Kamal Ke, before he completely switched on to Punjabi cinema, and finally settled with Bollywood. Manav Vij is a doctor who forayed into acting and singing. He loves folk singing, though he never took it as a career seriously.
