Master Prabhakar Biography
Master Prabhakar is an Indian film actor who worked as a child actor in south Indian and a very few Hindi movies. He primarily worked in Tamil cinema, and a few Telugu films, apart from more than 60 shows for Doordarshan, between 1977 and 1987. He also worked as a technician for a few Bollywood films after year 2000. Actress Baby Sumathi who appeared in several south Indian movies in the 1970s is his younger sister.
Master Prabhakar was born on 28th February 1957 in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. His mother tongue is Saurashtra. Madhurai is his ancestral home. He belonged to a big family of 11 children and his father ran several businesses. His mother was a homemaker. He was 6 years old when he did his first stage drama. Master Prabhakar was the first one from the family to join film industry as a child artist. Later his younger sister Baby Sumathi along with a few sisters and one cousin also joined the same stream. Later the family shifted to Chennai, and his career groomed as a child artist.
He started his career as a child actor in Devalayam, directed by G.R. Nathan. After that he worked as a child actor in about 150 Tamil films, including Chitti, directed by K.S. Gopalakrishnan. He also got busy in Telugu and Malayalam films, and worked in over 20 films. As a child artist, some of his best works include - Va Raja Va, Thiruvarutselvar, Bama Vijayam, Irukodugal, Thamarai Nenjam etc. He was also seen in 2009 film Eeram. Though he was talented it was not fully utilized in the film industry, and he got sidelined. However he was quite active in television, and also worked as a technician in Bollywood. Currently he is looking forward for some good roles to portray on big screen.
