Mathukutty Xavier Biography
Mathukutty Xavier is a young promising film director and screenwriter associated with Malayalam cinema, best known for his debut flick, Helen released in 2019. This survival thriller starring Anna Ben, Lal, Aju Varghese and debutant Noble Babu Thomas received an overwhelming response from both critics and viewers, and thus Xavier made a sensational debut in Malayalam cinema. Earlier he has directed a few short films in Malayalam. His debut flick, Helen was based on a real-life incident happened in a foreign country years ago, and he even trained two mice to do the emotional role of a mouse in the movie.
Mathukutty Xavier was born on 21 April 1993 in Thodupuzha, Idukki District, Kerala. His younger days were spent in his hometown and Anchal, where he completed his studies. He graduated in animation and graphic designing. Since young he was interested in storytelling. He worked in the IT field for a few years. However he left his secure job to pursue his dreams – his real passion of storytelling and film direction.
He started his debut with short films. In 2015 he made a silent short film, Don't Smoke It Away, followed by Ottam, Rekha and the tides, Whatsapp Mom and The Voice of Survivors. He made his directorial debut at the age of 26 and earned success as well. He gave importance to pre-production stage, which later gave him less efforts during shooting. He wove the story in such a way that it creates emotional bonding with both youngsters and families and his idea worked in his favour. He co-scripted the movie with Alfred Kurian Joseph and Noble Babu Thomas, who marked his screen debut with Helen as Anna Ben’s boyfriend.
