Medha Manjrekar Biography

Medha Manjrekar is a film actress and producer associated with Marathi cinema. She is the wife of acclaimed director and actor of Bollywood and Marathi cinema, Mahesh Manjrekar. She played lead role opposite Nana Patekar in 2016 Marathi super hit film Natsamrat, directed by her husband. Kaksparsh (2012) and De Dhakka (2008) are other major works. She has also co-produced many movies aside her husband. They played the double role of real life in the film ‘Bandh Reshmache’ (2016) directed by Jatin Wagle. It was for the first time the husband & wife performed together.

Medha Manjrekar was born on 28 April 1967 in Maharashtra. She is married to cine director Mahesh Manjrekar. She stands behind him as his pillar of support and strength, and has also worked as a producer and actress in many of his film ventures in Marathi language. Till 2013 the couple stayed in Mumbai. Later they shifted their base to Pune.

After the veteran actress Reema lagoo opted out of Manjrekar’s much anticipated movie, Natsamrat, Medha Manjrekar stepped into the shoes. She was paired with the veteran and very talented Nana Patekar for the film, which depicted the tragic family life of a stage actor who has retired from acting but is unable to forget his fond memories of theatre. The film went on to become a huge hit and Medha’s acting talents were appreciated. The movie released on January 1, 2016 became the highest grosser of Marathi cinema till 2016, and later its position was replaced by Sairat. She didn’t do much preparations for the role, and the decision by Mahesh to cast her in lead role came suddenly, so unexpected.
