Meghna Kothari Biography

Meghna Kothari is a former Bollywood actress known for her debut flick – Prem Aghan, where she played the female lead opposite Fardeen Khan, who also marked his Bollywood debut with this film. The much anticipated film sank in the box office, which affected the careers of both its lead actors. Meghna later played supporting roles in a few Bollywood flicks such as Bride & Prejudice (2005), Parineeta (2004) etc. Meghna is also known for featuring in the popular music video of Anuradha Paudwal – ‘Hathon mein in hathon mein likhde mehndi se’ from her popular album – Ishq Hua, released in 2000.

Meghna entered Mumbai entertainment industry in the late 1990s. When Feroz Khan launched his son Fardeen Khan to Bollywood through Prem Aggan, he searched for a new face to play his female lead. That’s how Meghna got her film offer and she made her debut in the year 1998. She was seen in a bold avatar for this film, and the songs like Khatey Hai kasam became instant chartbusters. But the much awaited film bombed at box office, and the movie received negative reviews from critics also. Though Fardeen Khan managed to win ‘Filmfare Best Male Debut’ Award, the film’s failure affected Meghna’s career.

After a break from Bollywood she returned to silver screen with movies such as Vadh, Sau Jhooth Ek Sach etc which went unnoticed. Then she was seen in Parineeta in 2004 as a singer at marriage function. In between she appeared in music videos such as Likhde Mehndi se. She played the supporting role of Maya Bakshi in Aishwarya Rai starrer international project, Bride & Prejudice, which is her best work up-to-date. The movie was directed by Gurinder Chadha.
