Mohammad Asrarul Haque Biography

Mohammad Asrarul Haque is an Indian politician who currently serves as a Member of Parliament in the 16th Lok Sabha since 2014. He belongs to Indian National Congress and represents Kishanganj seat of Bihar. He currently serves as the state president of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind. This senior politician from Bihar is also known as Maulana Asrarul Haque Qasmi. In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, he retained his seat at Kishanganj, polling the highest number of votes in the state. He got elected to Lok Sabha for the first time in 2009 after five consecutive failures.

 

Maulana Asrarul Haque Qasmi was born on 15 February 1942 in village Tarabari, Kishanganj district, Bihar. He was married to Salma Khatoon, and the couple has 5 children. His wife died in 2012. He got elected to parliament for the first time in 2009 at the age of 67. He got elected to Lok Sabha from Kishanganj seat of Bihar in Indian National Congress ticket after five consecutive failures. This Maulana politician was serving as Member of All India Muslim Personal Law Board, President of All India Talimi wa Milli Foundation and Vice-President of All India Milli Council when he joined Lok Sabha for the first time. Kishanganj district is widely regarded as one of the most backward districts of Bihar, and he had a lot of new challenges to face, as the newly elected MP.

 

He retained his seat in 2014 general elections too, despite the whole nation swooned with Modi waves. During his second term as MP, he established 224-acre (91 ha) centre for Aligarh Muslim University in Kishanganj. But only the Bachelor of Education course was being offered, for which he was heavily criticized by media.
