Nadendla Manohar Biography

Nadendla Manohar is an Indian politician from Andhra Pradesh, who is a member of Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena Party since October 2018. He formerly served Indian National Congress. He is the son of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Bhaskara Rao. He served as 18th Speaker of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly during 4 June 2011 – 18 June 2014. He has been elected twice to legislative assembly from Tenali since 2004 representing INC, and got defeated in 2014. He is a former sportsman known as a Tennis player, who won Bronze medal in the National Games, 1986. Manohar was a nationally ranked player in the 1980s he was quite active in the field of sports.

Nadendla Manohar was born into a political family. He is the son of former Chief Minister N. Bhaskara Rao, who was instrumental in the formation of Telugu Desam. Following his father’s footsteps he too reached politics, and succeeded as well. He holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Osmania University. He got elected to state assembly for the first time in 2004 from Tenali, and retained the seat for next state legislature elections too. He served as the Deputy Speaker of the A.P. Legislative Assembly, just before he became the speaker. However he lost 2014 elections, and since then he has been keeping a low profile.

Got defeated in 2014 elections, he decided to join Jana Sena Party in 2018. After discussions with his well-wishers, he decided to go with the Jana Sena. His resignation came soon after his visit with AICC president Rahul Gandhi and discussed strengthening the Congress. He was instrumental in organising Mr Rahul Gandhi’s public meeting on Special Category Status at Guntur last year.
