Nivedita Bhattacharya Biography

Nivedita Bhattacharya is an actress and philanthropist. She is married to the popular Bollywood actor, Kay Kay Menon. She actively supports girls’ education in India. She is known as a theatre artist who has done 500 shows of All The Best in Hindi with Feroz Abbas Khan and toured several countries across the job with this theatre play. She has also appeared in television shows and catapulted to fame as Jiji in Saat Phere. She has performed with Feroz Abbas Khan and Naseeruddin Shah. Her first stage performance was under the direction of Surya Mohan Kulsheshtha, the present director of BNA, Lucknow.

 

She was born in July 21st, 1970. She graduated from IT College Lucknow, where she started her long-term association with theatre. She did several theatre works in the occasion of Bengali drama festivals during Durga Puja celebrations. Very soon she moved to Hindi amateur and professional theatre and has worked in association with Surya Mohan Kulshreshtha, Dr. Anil Rastogi and Urmil Kumar Thapaliyal for many plays. She has also performed at international theatre festivals in Norway and Finland. She became the only Indian actress invited by the FIASKO theatre group to perform the same day.

 

She has also done a few bit roles for Bollywood movies. She made an appearance in Kya Kehna (2000), in the role of Preity Zinta's sister in law. Some of her popular roles on small screen include - antagonist Bhauji in the Imagine TV series Gunahon Ka Devta and Aarti in the TV serial Kundali, apart from the most memorable role of Jiji in the Zee TV soap opera Saat Phere. She along with Kay Kay Menon, worked in Anurag Kashyap’s short film Last Train to Mahakali.
