P. G. Vinda Biography
P. G. Vinda is a noted cinematographer and film director who works in Telugu cinema. As a cinematographer he is best known for Black & White project, Grahanam, directed by Mohan Krishna Indraganti. This short film was shown at International Film Festival of India in 2004. He made his directorial debut with the children's movie The Lotus Pond released in 2011, for which he received The Golden Elephant (ICFFI). Some of his main stream projects as a cinematographer include - Anumanaspadam, Ashta Chemma, and Vinayakudu. He has also done one Kannada film titled Ninnindale.
Vinda hails from a remote village Palem in drought-hit Mahabubnagar district of Telangana. He schooled from Beechupally and completed his college studies from Kurnool. As a child he was also interested in painting. For the same reason, to pursue a career in the field of art and entertainment, he studied photography and visual communication from Jawaharlal Nehru Fine Arts University, Hyderabad. He joined film industry as an assistant to Madhu Ambat in the early 2000s, and worked for the Bollywood film, Lajja.
When he completed his course in fine arts, it was a time when technology was changing and digital photography just got into scene. He got into the new format of digital cinema and photography which benefitted him a lot. He started his film journey as an independent cinematographer with a B&W short film, Grahanam in 2004. Instead of being demanding in nature, he focused his lens through the clouds of patience and perseverance and turned into a rising luminary in his chosen profession. As of now he has done more than 20 films, predominantly in Telugu, apart from a few award winning short films.
