Pooja Gandhi Biography

Pooja Gandhi is a well known Kannada actress. She is also known by the name Sanjana Gandhi. She has also appeared in a few Tamil movies. Mungaru Male, Taj Mahal and Budhivanta are her commercial hits. She is active in politics also and has joined Janata Dal (Secular) in 2012 and most recently newly formed Karnataka Janatha Party (KJP).

Pooja Gandhi was born in Ganjimutt Punjab on October 7 in a traditional Punjabi family. Her father Pawan Gandhi is a businessman and her mother Jyothi Gandhi is a housewife. Her school education was completed at Meerat. Her younger sister Radhika Gandhi is a Kannada actress, while the second sister Suhani Gandhi, a tennis player. Pooja was set to marry Anand Gowda. However the relationship couldn’t happen.

Pooja made her acting debut through television serials. Zameen Se Asman directed by Aruna Irani was her debut television soap. Her film debut happened with Bengali film Tomake Salam, released in 2003. She debut Tamil with Kokki, but the movie bombed at box office. She entered the Kannada film industry with Mungaru Male which became commercially successful and she began to be known as Mungaru Male Hudugi, after this movie. After that she became a part of Kannada film industry and she did several hit films like Budhivanta, Huchchi, Kodagana Koli Nungitha, Manmahta, Krishna, Milana, Taj Mahal and Honey Honey. She debut Tulu with Beere Devupoonje.

Pooja Gandhi joined the Janata Dal (Secular) (JDS) party on 18 January 2012 where she was initially appointed her as the working president of its youth wing. But she faced criticism and hence later sidelined. She was called Dandupalya queen by Former Member from BJP of Parliament Ayanur Manjunath. Pooja Gandhi was to join the KJP at the December 9th Haveri convention.
