Ramoji Rao Biography

Ramoji Rao is an Indian entrepreneur and head of the Ramoji Group of companies. The world’s largest film production facility is available in Ramoji Film City which belongs to this group. He was born on 16th November 1936 in Gudivada in Krishna District of Andhra Pradesh in a farming family. He has one son named Suman and one daughter named Vasundhara.

 

He also owns Margadarsi Chit Fund, Eenadu newspaper, Priya Foods, Usha kiran movies and ETV together with Ramoji Film City located near Hyderabad. He is serving as the Chairman of the Dolphin group of hotels in Andhra Pradesh.

 

His Usha Kiron movies has produced many films that include Naache Mayuri, Pratighaat, Tujse Meri Kasam, Nuvve Kavali, Chitram, Ninnu Choodalani, Akasa Veedhilo, anandam, Istam, Nachavule, Usha Parinayam, Ninnu Kalisaaka, etc. He has co-produced one Hollywood film Centipede! in the year 2004. His son Suman is serving as the Chief Executive Officer of Eenadu Television.

 

Ramoji Film City has many facilities for film production than one could see anywhere in the world. This is very popular among the film makers and tourists and nearly 2, 00, 000 tourists visit this place every month. This includes various attractions like exotic gardens, entertainment centers and many rides like space rides and live stunt shows.

 

He received Filmfare Best Film Award for his film Pratighatana in 1985, Filmfare Special Award for Excellent Contribution of a Film City in 1998, Filmfare Best Film Award for the film Nuvve Kavali in 2000 and Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004.
