Rohini Mariam Idicula Biography
Rohini Mariam Idicula is a model, anchor and actress, associated with Malayalam movies. Former Miss Kerala, who has won the beauty pageant in 2007 has also won the subtitles - Miss Perfect 10. Formerly she was crowned as 2nd runner up Navy Queen in 2002. She played the pivot role of Alice in her debut Malayalam movie - Nee Ko Njaa Cha in 2013. Poojitha Menon, Sija Rose and Parvathy Nair form the other female leads for the movie. She played the lead role in the highly acclaimed South Indian Avant Garde film ‘Karma Cartel’, which was screened in various film festivals across the globe, directed by Vinod Bharathan, based in Copenhagen.
She was born in 1984 in Neerattupuram, Tiruvalla. Her father Idicula Mathew was a Chief Accountant for Lee plastics in Nigeria, while her mother is a homemaker. She was brought up in Kochi, where she did schooling at Chinmaya Vidyalaya. She is a brilliant student in studies, who got 10th rank in Kerala Entrance Exams. After graduation in Government Law College Ernakulam, she moved to UK to complete post-graduation. Though she is a lawyer by educational qualification, she chose to become a Video Jockey and she is a very popular television anchor on the youth oriented channel Kappa TV. She successfully hosts the chat show – Star Jam, where she interviews film celebrities. Star Jam made her indeed a popular VJ.
She is interested in modelling since younger days and won 2nd runner up Navy Queen title in 2002. However the winning of Miss Kerala title was the real breakthrough to her television and modelling career. She played the female lead in Malayalam feature film ‘Karma Cartel’, which received praises across the globe at various film festivals. Shot in 10 days, this film won the award for excellence in film-making in the Canadian International Film Festival.
