Rudra (actress) Biography
Rudra is a south Indian film actress who was active in Malayalam and Tamil films in the 1990s. She has also appeared in TV serials in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu actress. In the 1990s she played lead, parallel lead and supporting roles, and also formed a part of ensemble cast of a few movies. Dhruvam (1993) is her most popular film role in Malayalam cinema, where she was paired with Jayaram. The evergreen song ‘Thumpi Penne Vava’ was filmed on her. Among her Tamil films, Kizhakku Cheemayile (1993) is most popular. She played second lead in the film, and the popular song, "Aathangara Marame" was filmed on her. Despite getting a great start in south Indian film industry, luck didn’t favour her and she couldn’t make it big.
Her name is also credited as R. V. Aswini. She started her modelling career during her final years in school. Her innocent face and next-door girl look fetched her a few roles from Malayalam and Tamil films, and she also managed to make a mark with her brief appearances on screen. She also had some of the best songs on the time filmed on her, both in Malayalam and Tamil.
While she was doing modelling one of her photos appeared in a magazine, and she was spotted by Director P. Bharathiraja, who offered her the role in Pudhu Nellu Pudhu Naathu in 1991. The movie marked her screen debut. Kizhakku Cheemayile (1993) is her most memorable role in Tamil films. Some of her noted roles in Malayalam are Manichitrathazhu (1993), Dhruvam (1993), Pidakkozhi Koovunna Noottaandu (1994), and Kudumbakodathi (1996). Later she got married and settled in Singapore. She began her second innings with TV shows, and currently appears in Tamil series, Magarasi.
