S. P. Sreekumar Biography

S. P. Sreekumar is a promising actor, comedian and character artist of Malayalam cinema known for his distinct laughs, perhaps after Kalabhavan Mani. With his distinct dialects and mannerisms, he has caught attention of film viewers in a short period. Yet he has stunned everyone by doing the villain’s (serial killer) role in the suspense thriller – Memories in 2013. Sreekumar gained attention of public through TV shows before reaching cinema and some of his noted film roles in the recent times are – Memories, Salala Mobiles, Ayaal jnanalla, Papilio Buddha and ABCD: American-Born Confused Desi. His ability to play a variety of characters, across genres makes him one of the rising young stars of Malayalam film industry at present.

Sreekumar belongs to Thiruvananthapuram. He gained attention for the first time through TV show Chirikidathom on Amrita TV, which marked his small screen entry too. However his character role as Lolithan in Marimayam gave him the big break. The series turned out to be a perfect launch pad for Sreekumar. ABCD: American-Born Confused Desi marked his acting debut on big screen, where he played a comic role - Lloyd Fernandes, a Fort Kochi Lad. He met people in the Mattancherry area and understood the nuances and Kochi slang for the movie and his dialogue delivery is so realistic that people still call him as a Koch lad, though he is from Thiruvananthapuram.

From his debut movie in a comic role, he suddenly switched on to a serious role in his next release – Memories, where he was seen as a psychotic serial killer. Actor himself says that he doesn’t want to stick on to any type of roles and would like to accept and do sincerely whatever roles come in his way. He was seen playing a comedy role of an assistant director in Fahadh Fasil’s Ayaal jnanalla in 2015 and played a tribal youth Sankaran in Papilio Buddha. 'Veeraputhran', 'Kandhahar', 'Dam 999', 'Kathayile Naayika', and 'Vallatha Pahayan' are some of his early works.
