Sadiq Biography
Sadiq is a popular character artist of Malayalam cinema, who is equally verse in doing negative roles. Made his debut through 1987 offbeat movie, Uppu, he has showed his screen present for about three decades portraying over 500 character roles. He is regularly featured in Malayalam movies, who is best known for portraying negative roles. He has spent over 25 years in Malayalam film industry and is still active. Perumazhakalam, Madhura Naranga, Fireman, Thachiledath Chundan, Vastavam, Samraajyam, Chandranudikkunna Dikkil, Randaam bhavam, Arabi Katha, Oru Maravathur Kanavu, Neelakaasam Niraye, Koottathiloraal, Yaatra Chodikkathe, Bombay March 12 and Godman are among a few distinct roles he played onscreen.
Sadiq belongs to Thrissur. Muhammed Ali and Rasiyabeevi are his parents. He lost his mother at the age of 2 and was later looked after by his aunt. His wife Shajitha is a Homeopathy doctor. The couple has two daughters - Rubina and Thamanna. Thamanna has debut Malayalam playback singing as a child artist and sang the most popular title track of Vellimoonga in 2015. Sadiq started off his career as a stage actor, where he enacted a female character. Since childhood he carried dreams to become an actor someday. But he has no filmy background. In 1987 he happened to read an ad in newspaper, inviting newcomers for a new Malayalam film. He was interviewed by actor V. K. Sree Raman and casted him as well. He had just completed his civil engineering and started contract works, when he got his debut film – Uppu in 1987. He played the character Salim.
Thus he fully focused on cinema, leaving behind his career as a contractor. But he struggled to get roles in the beginning. So, he started a travelling agency. But once again he returned back to cinema in a bang! He happened to get an offer for Manorama Vision serial, Mohapakshikal, which was his career turning point. He portrayed the character Micheal. Since then he is a regular character face of Malayalam cinema, portraying over 500 characters.
Mammootty starrer ‘King’ is one of his memorable film roles where he portrayed Ibrahim Jalal. His role as police officer in the movie ‘Commissioner’ impressed audience a lot and he was later seen in numerous police roles later. He is equally successful in the role of politician. He has been instrumental in bringing serial director James Albert to film field. He introduced him to Lal Jose with his script of “Classmates”. Later the movie starring Prithviraj and Kavya Madhavan started a new trend of campus stories in Mollywood and became a huge blockbuster, breaking all collection records till then.
