Shafna Biography
Shafna Nizam, shortly called Shafna is a south Indian actress who is best known for playing actor Sreenivasan’s daughter in cult classic 1998 movie, Chinthavishtayaya Shyamala and her famous dialogue as a kid, “Ayyo Acha Pokalle (Father, please don’t go)”, is still cherished by millions and extremely popular. It was her debut movie and later she played Sreenivasan’s daughter once again in 2007 movie - Katha Parayumbol. Currently she appears in all south Indian language movies.
Shafna was born in Thiruvananthapuram in the year 1990 to Nizam & Shahida. She has two sisters. She got married to her co-star of Plus-Two, Sajin in 2013. They fell into love during its film shooting. She made her film debut in the iconic film of late 1990s - Chinthavishtayaya Shyamala, scripted and directed by the ace filmmaker Sreenivasan who also played its male lead. Shafna played the role of Shafna, one among the two daughters of Sreenivasan. Same year she appeared in the romantic classic – Pranayavarnangal, as Manju warrior’s sister. But later she took a break after these two movies and continued with her studies.
In 2007, she returned back once again as Sreenivasan’s elder daughter in classic hit – Katha Parayumbol. Both these movies have some striking similarities and share the bond between a father and his kids. She reprised her role in its Tamil and Telugu remakes the following year, the movies with the titles – Kuselan and Kathanayakudu respectively. Since then she is regular with Malayalam, portraying teenager roles. She played the female lead in the Malayalam movie – Plus Two, a story that revolves around 5 teenagers. Oru Indian Pranayakatha, Lokpal, Banking Hours 10 to 4, Kanmazha Peyyum Munpe, Aagathan and Bhagavaan are among her noted appearances thereafter.
