Suman Nagarkar Biography

Suman Nagarkar is a noted film actress associated with Kannada cinema. She joined film industry in the 1990s, did a few movies and disappeared from film scene in the year 2000. She took hiatus for long 15 years and returned to film industry in 2015 playing character roles. Ishtakamya (2015), ...Re (2016) and Jeerjimbe (2017) are her works in the second innings. She marked her film debut with 1993 film, Nishkarsha and was later seen in films - Ammavra Ganda, Beladingala Baale, Nammoora Mandara Hoove, Hoomale, Doni Saagali, Mungaarina Minchu and finally Preethsu Thappenilla in 2000 before she took a break from the industry and settled in US.

She worked predominantly in Kannada movie industry since mid-1990s. She marked her film debut with Kannada heist thriller directed by Sunil Kumar Desai, Nishkarsha in 1993. She played the role of Bank Employee Suman in this film, co-starring Vishnuvardhan, Anant Nag and B. C. Patil. A single location was used for shooting most of its scenes, and its realistic plot elements made it a box office hit. After that Suman continued working in films throughout 1990s. She got married in 2000, and moved to California after doing the film, Preethsu Thappenilla.

In 2015 she returned back to Kannada film industry. Ishtakamya in 2015 marked her comeback. As she prepared for a comeback, she was chosen as the celebrity Radio Jockey on the first Kannada internet radio station – NammRadio, and she did a weekly show for radio listeners. The actress with mature voice is known for her excellent pronunciation and has a good hold over Kannada language. She also appeared in a Kannada short film - Gray, which told about piracy and how it affects the film industry.
