Supriya Pathare Biography

Supriya Pathare is a popular actress associated with Marathi television. She is also a theatre and film actress, known for portraying noted character roles. As a stage actor, she has acted in Darling, Darling and Hich Majhi Rani. She received Natya Darpan Puraskar for her performance in the play Darling, Darling. Honar Sun Me Hya Gharchi, Fu bai fu, Pinjra and Kulvadhu are her popular television roles in Marathi television. She played Mothi aai, Shri's elder aunt in Honar Sun Me Hya Gharchi, the show which ended in 2016. Dili Supari Baikochi, Anolakhi He Ghar Majhe, Fakt Ladh Mhana, Karooya Udyachi Baat, Balak Palak, Time Pass and Time Pass 2 are some of the character roles she played on big screen. Time Pass 2 (2015) was her last release.

Pathare was born at Umarkhadi in Sandhurst Road, Mumbai in 1972. She has no artistic background. Yet she got involved with theatre since her school days. She has been an active student too, who takes part in cultural events. She wrote a play while she was studying in grade 7. Tin Paishancha Tamasha – was one of her earliest plays where she excelled as a stage actress. She was trained under Guru Vaman Kendre. Darling, Darling – was her first professional play and it bagged her Natya Darpan Puraskar. Since then she has completed more than 16 years in the entertainment industry, playing many noted supporting roles.

She has also showcased her talent as a comedian through the comedy reality show Fu Bai Fu. Over the years she has experimented with different kinds of roles – from positive roles to grey shaded ones and from serious roles to comic ones. The actress has once claimed that in 1995, she was held captive by a Rajasthani producer for three months. She also made claims that he made her act at gun point, though she hesitated to reveal the shooting location and other details of the producer. 50 constables from Rajasthan Police arrived at the spot, after she managed to communicate the message to her family members and thus rescued her. She was released by the intervention of Bal Thackeray, Shivasena Chief and she expressed her gratitude to him several times.
