Uday Tikekar Biography
Uday Tikekar is a veteran actor associated with Hindi film industry, known for playing supporting and character roles. The famous classical singer of present times, Arati Ankalikar-Tikekar is his wife. Uday is a prominent theatre artist too, and is known for his association with Marathi Theater as an actor. He is also associated with television, and plays supporting roles on Marathi mini screen. He is equally associated with Marathi film screen too. Siyaasat and Main Teri Parchhain Hoon are his popular theater shows.
In 2017 he was seen in two brief, but prominent roles in two successful Bollywood films – Raees and Golmaal Again. He played the brief role of generous Jamnadas, who opens orphanage for children, and the story fully revolves around this orphanage. He portrayed Pasha Bhai in Shah Rukh Khan starrer Raees this year. Barfi in 2012 is yet another memorable role he played on Bollywood screen. Rocky Handsome and Madaari are other recent Bollywood appearances.
Uday was born on 3 December 1965 in Maharashtra. Mumbai is his hometown. He schooled from Parle Thilak Vidyalaya, and later graduated from University of Mumbai. He began his career in Marathi theatre in the late 1980s and later got associated with Hindi theatre too. He is married to Arati Ankalikar-Tikekar – a prominent classical singer and has one daughter, Swanandi Tikekar who is also associated with entertainment industry. She is a budding actress associated with Marathi industry.
Rangat Sangat in 1988 marked his debut in Marathi films, and he has been associated with Marathi cinema for almost 3 decades as of now. Kaafila in 1990 is his debut Hindi film. Though he is associated with Hindi films since then, he predominantly worked in Marathi cinema and theater, and earned recognition from Bollywood in the recent times only.
