Umesh Shukla Biography

Umesh Shukla is a promising director of Bollywood best known for the social drama with an influential social message - Oh My God (OMG) released in 2012. The movie starred Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal in pivot roles and this satire comedy throws light on many religious rituals and practises that exist in Indian society and criticizes them in a humourous way.  Mithun Chakraborthy played antagonist in the movie and OMG was declared a blockbuster. ‘All is well’ is one of the most awaited movies of the year 2014. Yaar Gaddar (1994) is one of his noted movies as an actor where he played villain’s role.

Umesh entered the film scene as an actor in the early 1990s doing bit roles and made his directorial debut with Dhoondte Reh Jaaoge in 2009. He has also acted in a few television serials and with 2000s he entered dialogue and script writing field. All Is Well starring Asin, Rishi Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan is his upcoming project and he has announced one more project - 102 Not Out is a Drama starring Amitabh Bachchan and Paresh Rawal in the main lead. Amitabh Bachchan plays Rawal’s father’s role in this movie.

Yaar Gaddar is one of his earliest appearances as an actor. He played negative role of Governor in this movie and it starred Mithun Chakraborty, Saif Ali Khan and Somy Ali in lead roles. He also appeared in 1996 hit movie of Akshay Kumar - Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi and the television series - Zabaan Sambhalke. Later he moved towards back screen where he started his career as a script and dialogue writer.  Bachke Rehna Re Baba, Kuch to hai, Fool N Final and Jodi Kya Bannai Wah Wah Ramji can be included in this list.
