Vani Viswanath Biography

Vani Viswanath is a popular actress of South India during middle 90’s and early 2000’s. She is married to a Malayalam actor, Baburaj who is proficient in handling villain roles as well as comic ones. Among all her Malayalam movies, her comic role in the sequel of Ram ji rao speaking, Mannar Mathai speaking opposite Mukesh is most popular. She is widely known as an action queen or a police officer roles and she has an extra talent in handling Police officer roles. She has also appeared in Tamil, Kannada and Hindi movies, though a few. She handled a powerful role with black shades in the movie Black dahlia. Her other popular movies include - Vasanthiyum Lakshmiyum Pinne Njaanum, Ustaad, Chinthamani Kolacase, Ee Bhargavee Nilayam and Ente Hridhayathinte Udama. Her role in Ente Hridhayathinte Udama was critically well acclaimed and best among the roles she played till now. The movie was based on a novel written by Perumbadavam Sreedhara Menon.

She is also famous for suspense thriller roles. More than a romantic heroine who wanders behind the hero for a few film sequences, in most movies she has appeared as a powerful woman who fight for justice and teach men a lesson. Yet she is famous for her dance sequences in movies like Hitler and Independence. ‘Nanda lala’ of Independence was the top song of the year 1999. Among all Malayalam heroines, as an action heroine, Vani Viswanath is most popular. She has also played ghost’s role in movies like Ee bhargavi nilayam and Indriyam. Her other movies include The gang, Hitler, Panchaloham, Janathipathyam, Bhishma, Dravidan, Mandrika Kuthira, Hey Hero, The king, The Godman, Balram Vs Tharadas, Garshom, Poothumbium Poovalanmarum, Thakshashila, Kilukil Pambaram, Independence, Mandrika Kuthira, Anubhooti, Kaliveedu, The Truth, Nagara vadhu, Mangalam Veettil Manaseswari Gupta, Sipayi Lahala,  Ilamura Thamburan, James Bond, Kannur, Thachiledathu Chundan, Man of the match and Rapid Action Force. She is most successful with actor Suresh Gopi in Malayalam movies.

Vani Viswanath debut with Malayalam movie Manglya charthu in the year 1987. Then she did a few movies in supporting roles for almost all south Indian languages before landing to Malayalam movies as heroine. She has won the Kerala State Film Award for Second Best Actress for the movie Susanna.
