Vidhya Venkatesh Biography
Vidhya Venkatesh is a south Indian film actress who predominantly worked in Tamil and Kannada language films. Though she made film debut through Tamil movies, she received success and fame through Kannada films - Chigurida Kanasu (2003) and Nenapirali (2005). Both the movies earned her rave reviews from critics too. She played female lead in both these movies. Nenapirali earned her Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Kannada. But surprisingly she disappeared from silver screen and Nenapirali was her last release. She was active in the film world for a short period only. She is an air hostess turned actress.
She made her film debut through 2002 Kamal Hassan film – Panchathantiram (Tamil), where she was seen in a supporting role. She played the supporting role of Mrs. Reddy and this comedy film completed 100 days run at theatre. However she was not benefited by the movie’s success. Later she was seen in one more Tamil film, Kalatpadai (2003) before she completely switched on to Kannada movies. Her modelling coordinator forwarded a few of her pictures to Kannada director Nagabharana and that’s how she got her first break to Kannada films. Then she appeared in Nenapirali, directed by Ratnaja – the director known for casting the right actresses for his films.
She was born and brought up in Chennai where she completed her school and college studies. She worked as an air hostess for Singapore Airlines for two-and-a-half years before she moved to films. She was offered the first film role by K. S. Ravikumar, where she played Sriman's Telugu wife in the film Panchathanthiram (2002). Surprisingly the movie was shot inside a plane. Kalatpadai (2003) was her second release. Though she received positive reviews for her acting reviews, the movie went unnoticed. She did modelling and that’s how she got offers from Kannada film industry.
