Vindhya (actress) Biography
Vindhya is a former actress from south India who predominantly worked in Tamil movies. She is best known for her debut Sangamam (1999) alongside Rahman, though it was a box office failure. Only its music by Rahman was appreciated. Vindhya is also associated with AIADMK and has campaigned for 2011 state assembly elections. She was married Gopalakrishnan, actress Bhanupriya's brother, though the couple separated in 2012. She has also played supporting roles in Malayalam movies - Kilichundan Mambazham and Isra. She has acted in more than 35 movies belonging Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam languages. Azhagu Nilayam and Ayutham Seivom are her memorable roles.
Vindhya entered Tamil film world through Sangamam in 1999. The movie was a flop and later she appeared in supporting roles in many movies. She played second lead in Prabhu and Roja starrer Thirunelveli (2000) and Murali – Devayani starrer Kannukku Kannaga (2000). But later in the film career the actress has undergone major changes and has crossed many controversies. She played many glamorous roles like Kadhal pannum vayasu, to sustain the industry. The censor board warned it too vulgar even for the ‘A’ certificate standards and was handed back to the film unit after some serious warnings. The skin show of the actress was the main reason behind it.
She got married to Gopalakrishnan, who has acted in 'Vaakkumoolam'. The couple got married in famous Guruvayur temple in 2008. But the couple filed for a divorce in 2012. Azhagu Nilayam, Kannamma, Vayasu Pasanga, Namba Veetu Kalyanam, Thirunelveli, Sangamam, Viswanathan Ramamurthy, Magalirkaaga, Kannukku Kannaaga and En Purushan Kulanthai Mathiri are her popular Tamil movies.
