Vir Das Biography
Vir Das is a Bollywood actor and standup comedian of Indian television. As a film actor he is known for supporting roles in Badshah Company, Go Goa Gone and Delhi Belly. His upcoming movie is Shaadi ke side effects, where he works aside Vidya balan and Farhan Akhtar. As a standup comedian, he was added to the cast of The Great Indian Comedy Show on STAR One. ‘Cricket Firsts’, a sports comedy show on Zee Sports, ‘Is Route Ki Sabhin Linein Maast Hain’ and late night comedy show ‘Ek Rahin Vir’ on Zoom TV, ‘News on the Loose’ - comedy show on CNBC-TV18, SAB TV's Lo Kar Lo Baat and ‘Now Not Showing’ on CNN-IBN are other successful shows of Vir.
Vir Saran Das was born in Dehradun in the year 1979. But he was brought up in Africa where he studied in Indian Language School in Lagos, Nigeria. Later he completed his education at Delhi and Shimla. He holds a Bachelor's degree from Knox College, Illinois in Economics & Theatre for performance. Once completion of graduation, he was accepted into Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts for their Stanislavsky Program in coalition with the Moscow Arts Theatre. During his time in Knox, he explored with his comedy talents, with the show, Brown Men Can't Hump. He has received Richter Scholarship for Theatre and the Colton Performance Award for Outstanding Achievement in Acting from Knox. Then he worked for some time as a teaching assistant. At Harvard, Vir trained as a method actor for six months and has been associated with 8 plays of Moscow Arts Theatre.
Vir returned to India in April 2003 and has performed as a comedy actor in more than hundred shows. ‘Is Route Ki Sabhin Linein Maast Hain’ and late night comedy show ‘Ek Rahin Vir’ on Zoom TV maked his television debut and very soon he became popular as a standup comedian. He was seen in a guest appearance in ‘Namaste London’. Now he works as supporting actor in Bollywood cinema.
