Virendra Saxena Biography

Virendra Saxena is a noted actor of Bollywood and Hindi television, known for portraying character and supporting roles. He is best known for playing Jassi’s father in the popular television series of Sony TV, Jassi jaisa koi nahin. This role proved to be one of the big breaks of his acting career. He has been a part of Doordarshan television series since late 1980s and Bharat Ek Khoj remains one of his memorable performances. He played the character role of Vashithak in the episode, Republics and Kingdoms in this popular Doordarshan series, based on Discovery of India written by Jawaharlal Nehru.

Saxena was born in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. He is married to television actress Samta. This veteran actor got graduated from prestigious National School of Drama, New Delhi before starting his career with Doordarshan and Bollywood. He completed the course in 1982. Earlier he has appeared in a bit role in 1975 movie, Uljhan starring Ashok Kumar, Sanjeev Kumar and Sulakshana Pandit. Massey Sahib (1985) directed by Pradip Krishen remains his first credited performance. In this movie, he played the pivot role of Banaji and he was casted aside Arundhati Roy, Barry John and Raghubir Yadav. Khamosh, Aashique, Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin, Tamas, Dharavi, Suraj Ka Satvan Ghoda, Kabhi haa kabhi na and Narasimha are some of his noted roles during his early phase of film career.

In parallel he worked in television and a few of his noted roles include - Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil, Kitani Mohabbat Hai, Chhajje Chhajje Ka Pyaar and Afsar Bitiya, apart from his most memorable role - Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin. Bunty aur bubli, Saatiya, Bichoo, Shagird, Bheja fry 2, Houseful 2 and A Wednesday are a few more noted roles he played.
