Koena Mitra is a noted Bollywood actress known for glamorous roles. She is a successful model also and has appeared in a few music videos. Her item song, Sakki Sakki in the movie Musafir was a popular one. Koduva Meesai item song of Tamil movie, Dhool was also popular. She has also appeared in the item song “Honey Honey” in Suriya’s movie, Ayan. She played supporting roles in Bollywood movies, Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena and Apna Sapna Money Money which became successful. Stereo Nation’s Ishq, Aaj Ki Raat, Akh Teri and Channo by Jassi are a few of her noted videos.

Koena is a Bengali born in New York. She belongs to a Bengali Hindu family of Kolkata. She holds a major in psychology as educational qualification. She attended Lee Strasberg Acting School and is trained in western dance forms, basketball, swimming and tennis. She started modelling during her school days. She has learnt martial arts and Taichi. In 2002, she won the beauty pageant Gladrags Mega Model India 2003. It was following by first runner up position of Miss Intercontinental in Germany. She has also done ramp walks in Milan and Beijing. She is popular with many television ads also. Mirinda, Clinic All Clear and Maruti Alto are among her popular ads. She has also endorsed many beauty products as well as jewellery ads.

Her first big screen appearance was for a song of Ram Gopal Varma’s Road (2002). She appeared in the song "Khullam Khulla". Later she played supporting roles in Blackmail, Anamika, Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena, Insaan and Agar. She appeared as one among the ladies of the popular title track of Akshay Kumar movie, Heyy baby where a long list of film heroines was featured. She was one of those first Indian heroines who was attracted with tattooing.
