He is also known as a successful director of Bollywood. He started his directorial debut by directing Akshay Kumar and Mahima Chaudhry in the seventh installment of Khiladi movies – Khiladi 420. The movie released in the year 2000 received negative reviews from critics. Though not great, it was a semi hit at box office. It took 13 years for its next installment to get released. Neeraj Vora has also directed Akshay Kumar in the sequel of cult comedy – Hera pheri. The movie was titled ‘Phir hera pheri’ and released in the year 2006. As a director it was his second venture and was a super hit at box office too. Though the first part Hera Pheri was a remake of Malayalam block buster, Vora opted a fresh story instead of using the sequel of Ramji Rao speaking (original movie). Thus the sequels of the same story in two languages are entirely different scripts, Mannar Mathai speaking being the successful sequel of the movie in Malayalam, released in the year 1996.
As a director, Vohra has also directed the movies – Familywala in 2009 and remake of Malayalam blockbuster ‘Udayananu Tharam’ as Short Kut: The Con Is On, starring Akshaye Khanna, Amrita Rao and Arshad Warsi in leading roles.
